Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was born on October 10, 1974. Dale Jr. drives the number 88 AMP/National Guard Chevrolet race car in the NASCAR Nextel Sprint Cup Series for Hendricks Motorsports. Dale Earnhardt Jr. also drives the number 5 and the number 7 race cars for his own team, JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Dale Jr. grew up in Kannapolis, NC as the son of racing legend Dale Earnhardt.
The first car that Dale Jr. raced was a 1979 Monte Carlo. While Dale Jr. was sharpening his driving skills, he worked at his dad’s dealership as a mechanic. Dale Jr. also attended Mitchell Community College where he received a degree in automotive technology.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has had numerous accomplishments in his career so far. He won the Busch Championship in 1998 and 1999 and won the Daytona 500 in 2004. Dale Jr. has also won the Most Popular Driver award from 2003 to 2011. He has won 18 NASCAR Nextel Sprint Cup Races and 23 Nationwide Races to date. In addition, Dale Jr. has won 7 non-points NASCAR racing events.
Dale Jr. is a business man as well as being the most popular race car driver. Dale Jr. owns a media production company called Hammerhead Entertainment. His company created and produced the TV show, Back In the Day, that is shown on the SPEED channel. Dale Jr.’s company also produces a TV show that is aired on ESPN2 called Shifting Gears.
