Recently announced for pre-order for NASCAR diecast car collectors, Lionel NASCAR will be making the Dewalt car in 2011.  That in itself isn’t big news.  The weird thing is that the car will not be made for Matt Kenseth.  Instead, it’ll be produced as a Marcos Ambrose Dewalt 2011 diecast for Richard Petty Motorsports.  Here is a just released picture of it:

An additional oddity is that there wasn’t even a Dewalt diecast car made for 2010.  Crown Royal was Kenseth’s primary sponsor this year.  For collectors that have been doing it for years, it’s always somewhat strange and usually a welcomed change.  Sponsorship and driver changes are two things that make for the potential of a highly demanded collectible diecast.  Two other factors that add to their value are a driver’s on track performance and then ultimately production quantities.

Australian V8 Supercar champion in both 2003 and 2004, Marcos Ambrose does not appear to be a “flash in the frying pan” in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series which always bodes well for the collector.  So with the sponsorship change from Clorox and Little Debbie with JTG Daugherty Racing to RPM and Stanley Black & Decker, both the diecast collector and Ambrose get a fresh, welcomed change.

Lionel NASCAR, formerly Motorsports Authentics and Action, will produce this in both general collectible scales of 1/24 and 1/64 diecast cars.

A win at Martinsville Speedway this past weekend on October 24th in Ridgeway, Virginia has moved Denny Hamlin to within 6 points of Jimmie Johnson in the “Race for the Sprint Cup Championship” for the 2010 Series.  He drove his #11 FedEx Express Toyota to his 7th win of the season.

For the 2011 season, FedEx will again sponsor the Joe Gibbs Racing Hamlin car again with their four different variations of FedEx.  These are their Express, Freight, Ground and Office brands.  The 2011 renditions sport a cool purple  background behind the car number on each brand name variation.  But again, the primary paint scheme will be the Denny Hamlin 2011 FedEx Express car which will again be produced by Lionel Nascar, formerly Motorsports Authentics, in both 1/24 scale and 1/64 scale Nascar diecast car versions.

Ebay pulls out the marketing trick bag for a special paint scheme that adorned a NASCAR Sprint Cup car at the October 24th Martinsville race.  The Hendricks Motorsports car was driven by Mark Martin who will be driving for one more season before retiring.  His #5 car sported “Ebay Motors” on the deck-lid and on the rear quarter panels.  The winner of the Ebay contest will have their name included on the paint scheme.

This Nascar diecast car will be made by Lionel Nascar, formerly Motorsports Authentics, in both 1/24 scale diecast and 1/64 scale diecast car versions.  The Mark Martin diecast collectors will most certainly like adding this paint scheme to their collections.
