Terrance Lee Labonte was born on November 16th,
1956, in Corpus Christi Texas. He is currently a semi-retired NASCAR driver,
who occasionally drives in Sprint Cup Series. His older brother (Bobby
Labonte), was a Winston cup Champion of NASCAR in 2000. As well as his father
was a former driver in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He started racing at the
young age of 7 when he was introduced to this sport through his father, as he
worked on race cars as a hobby! At age 9 Terry won a national championship
racing quarter-midgets and moved right onto the short tracks racing stock cars
as a teenager.He had his first NASCAR
start at Darlington Raceway in 1978, where he finished 4th racing
#92 Duck Industries. The following year on Labor Day weekend at the same
raceway he took home his first Winston Cup race earning him 222,000 and
finished 6th in the final point standings.In 1996 he won the Championship, and his
brother Bobby won the race on the final day of the season. They were the only
siblings to win the championship in the same season. The two of them took a
victory lap for their winnings, and the fact that he was driving with a broken
hand the last two races of the season. Then in 2004 Terry announced that he would
no longer being racing full-time, and he would be running part-time schedules
for the next two years. Later on that season they announced that Kyle Busch
would be his replacement when he did retire. Through 2005-2007, Terry raced in
many different races he even had 3 starts in 2007 racing for Michael Waltrip
Racing. Then in 2009 it was reported that him and Bill Stavola would be forming
a new team!!!
