Rusty Wallace was born on August 14th, 1956 in
Fenton Missouri where he started his racing career! Currently he is a
broadcaster on ESPN as well as a co-host of NASCAR Angels not only that Rusty
is also a owner in the Nationwide Series. Rusty had his first live broadcast of
the Indy500 on May 28,2005 and has continued to do very well with this being
his career now. Also one of Rusty’s top of faim was when he appeared in the
film Days of Thunder in 1990 which I’m sure we all checked out. Later on in the
late 1970 prior to him joining the NASCAR circuit Wallace made a name for
himself racing around the Midwest winning a pair of local track championships.
Rusty had several wins during his NASCAR Career. In 1979 he won the Stock Car Rookie
of the year honors finishing 3rd in points. During the Atlanta 500
Wallace ended up finishing second in his first NASCAR race while driving the No
16. Then the following year he finished
second in USAC Stock Car Race right behind Joe Ruttman. Then with a 2 year gap
in 1983 he won the American Speed Association championship while competing
against some of NASCARS’s future starts like Mark Martin!! Wallace ended up
joining the Winston Cup circuit full-time the following year in 1984 and
finished 14th in points standings! So with having a great career in
NASCAR Rusty retired after his 2005 Season with an average of 14.4 for his
finish. During his career he ended up having 55 NASCAR Cup wins, which is tied
for 8th on NASCAR’s all time wins list!! Also Rusty has the most
short track wins in NASCAR history with 34 and is considered among the best
short track driver!!!
