Marcos Ambrose was born in Australia on September 1st 1976, and began
racing carts at the young age of ten. He grew up in Launceston Australia and by
1995 he had won four Tasmanian state junior karting titles and the Australian
karting championship. In 1998 Ambrose moved to Europe, and within the first
year won the European Formula Ford Championship. The following year he began
his racing season in the French Formula Three. Then at the end of 2000 after
returning back to Australia, he was invited to compete in a Young Guns

Truck Series debut. Marcos raced in the Kroger 250 that evening and finished
33rd. That same year he became the first Australian to lead laps in Camping
World Truck Series. He also had his first pole position at Kentucky Speedway,
and won his first Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen in the Zippo 200. It was
later announced in 2009 that Ambrose would run the full 2009 cup schedule with
JTG Racing and a new partner Brad Daugherty. That year he received his second
