Kasey Kahne

Kasey was born in Enumclaw, Washington on April 10^th 1980. He is currently a full time driver for NASCAR, and also owns his own race team, Kasey Kahne Racing. He competes in Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. He began racing at age 17 in Demig, Washington in open wheel sprint cars. In 2001 he went to Pennsylvania to the historic Williams grove speedway where he won the Season Opener. Kahne currently holds the record for fasted lap in Skagit and also has 2 winnings at Skagit speedway for the Annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup in 2002 & 2003. He then started his cup career in 2004, when he replaced Bill Elliot in the #9 Dodge. However he had a contract with Ford, and he had to pay them off for them to allow him to drive a car for Dodge. He won several races including the national midget championship, and also received the rookie of the year award. Kasey won his first sprint Cup win in 2005 at Richmond International Raceway. He also made 22 starts in the Sprint Cup series, and had other wins such as O’ Riley and United Way 300!! He had several wins for the next 3 years. Kasey kahne even dominated the Sharpie 500 in 2007, where he was leading 305 laps of 500 and finished 2^nd place right behind Carl Edwards. In 2008 in the Sprint All-Star Race he became the first driver to win the race from the fan vote and the third driver to race in the sprint showdown and go to win the All-Star race. In 2009 he merged with Yates Racing, and it was announced that him and his current teammates would remain as the four drivers of Richard Petty Motorsports. 

~2010~Kasey currently drives for the Richard Petty Motorsports Team in the No 9 Budweiser Ford Fusion. Budweiser has been his primary sponsor since the beginning of 2008. Kasey won his first win for the season at Daytona on Feb.11, and was happy to take home a victory for the new seaspm.  He also placed second at the Budweiser Shootout which is a non-point event that is held before the Daytona. Then at Atlanta Speedway Kahn held the lead for the most laps but ended up falling short, however did finish in the top 5! Right in the middle Kasey was involved in an accident that involved several cars, Biffle and Kahne both place the blame on AJ Allmendinger for causing the crash. Kasey was able to rebound pretty well and when he raced at Ponoco the following week he was no disappointment. He came in right behind Denny Hamlin that evening in Michigan and led the most laps on the track as well. Then during the Carfax 400 on 8-15-10 this previous weekend Kahne outran Johnson and won his 18^th award for this season. He flew around that 2 mile track in 38.465 seconds on Sunday evening. He holds the spot for 16^th in the Sprint Cup Series as of now. It has been announced that his is moving to Hendrick Motorsports and after this season will not race for RPS or carry Budweiser. From RPM he will race for the Red Bull Racing Team for the 2011 season and start with Hendricks in 2012. By looks of the last race maybe Kasey already received his wings from Red Bull!  Kasey will be replacing NASCAR veteran Mark Martin for Hendricks Motorsports.
