Jeff Burton

 

Jeff Burton or better known as JB was born on June 29th 1967 in South Boston, Virginia. He is married to Kim Burton and they have 2 children, Harrison & Paige. He currently is a NASCAR driver in the Sprint Cup Series and drives the #31 for Richard Childress Racing. Also he drives the #29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series. He began his career in 1988 in the Busch Series where he raced #69 which was owned by his father John Burton. He had his first career win in 1990 where he drove the #12 Armour Lower Salt Bacon Buick for Sam Ard. In 1991 he moved to J&J Racing for one year before he moved to FILMAR Racing. In 1993 in car #0 owned by Martocci he had his first Winston Cup Start, and the following year in 1994 as his rookie year he drove the #8 for Stavola Brothers Racing. In 1995 he had finished 9th place, and held a top five even though he had missed three races for the NASCAR Rookie of the year. At the beginning of this start in 1997 he had his first career win at Texas Motor Speedway in the Interstate Batteries 500. Most of Burtons seasons were good, however he hit hard between 1997 and 2000 where he never finished lower than 5th in point standings. Every year between 97-00 he won an event at NHIS every year. In that 3-4 year run, when he hit his peak for his NASCAR career he won 14 races, and in 2000 he won for best finish in points. In 2001, he came up again winning another two races and finishing 10th in points, making his career total 17 wins. Then he fell back in 2002 & 2003 just a little failing to win in either race he was in. Then in 2004 he ran this season without a primary sponsor, and rumors started that he would be leaving Roush Racing. He denied all rumors, however burton signed a 3 year contract with Richard Childress Racing after being with Roush for over 8 years. In 2005 he had 6 top 10s and 3 top 5s for the year including a third in the Subway Fresh 500 in Phx, and this was his first full year at RCR. Then adding to his stats in 2006 he won the pole for 4 races, making his total number of career pole wins 6! Finally after a winless streak in any series he won at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Dover International Speedway! He then set a record in 2007 making him the first driver with multiple wins at Texas Motor Speedway. Then in 2007 Burton came very close to winning his first Daytona 500, however ended up finishing 13th after loosing several spots. In 2008 he won the Bank of America 500 at Lowes Motor Speedway, by using his pit strategy to get the car out in front of everyone.
