Casey Mears
Casey Mears was born on March 12 1978 and is an all around american
NASCAR Driver! He competes full time in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series driving the No 36 Chevy. Currently he drives for Tommy Baldwin
Racing with the No 36 Chevrolet which is Sponsored mainly by Red Bull!
He is the nephew of 4 time Indianapolis 500 winner Rick Mears and also
the son of IRL and off-road veteran Roger Mears!! He was brought up
around racing, and lets bet that is what he is good at!! Mears made his
NASCAR debut in the Busch Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway back in
2001 while driving the No 66 car for Cicci Welliver Racing! Mears
started off his 2006 Season with a then best career finish of second,
holding off Ryan Newman as Jimmie Johnson slipped in for the win of the
2006 Daytona 500! Then in 2009 Mears shared the No 2 Gentlemen Jack
Pontiac-Crawford with Andy Wallace, Rob Finley and Danica Patrick. They
had major handling issues with this Ponitiac and ended up finishing
eighth in point standings! In 2008 he moved up and got his own car the
No 5 Kellogg's/Carquest Chevrolet Impala which was formely driven by
Kyle Busch! Last year it was finally announced that Martin will replace
Mears in the #5 car for the 2009 season while competing with a full time
schedule! This year while Mears was racing at the Michigan
International Speedway and wrecked into one of his fellow teamates and
ended up placing 36th! Following that accident Mears was released from
Red Bull and was replaced with Reed Sorenson by the following race. So
at a recent event on June 27th 2010 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Mears finished 29th and is back with Tommy Baldwin Racing for the rest
of the 2010 season!
