Bobby Labonte was born on May 8th 1964, in Corpus Christi Texas. He is currently driving for The Racer’s Group in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Him and his older brother Terry Labonte are the only brother’s who have both won a championship in NASCAR’s top series. The two of them took a victory lap together, and will always remember this emotional, however great day on the track in 1996. Also Dale holds the record as of 2008 for the only one to win both the NASCAR Winston Cup, and NASCAR Busch Series. So with that said lets inform you that he began his racing career in 1969 at the age of 5 years old racing quarter midgets. Then in 1978 he advanced to go-karts, however that year he moved with his family to North Carolina. He was following right in his brothers foot-steps and wanted to go on to the Cup Series. Then at Martinsville Speedway in 1982, he finished 30th to make his debut in the Busch Series. He kept competing where he could until he earned enough money to race full-time in the Busch Series in 1990. He then founded his own team, drove a Slim Jim sponsored by Oldsmobile. He was very successful this year, and finished 4th in the standings, and was voted Most Popular Driver for that season. For the next following years, he continued to win several races as well as kept working on his main Busch Series Team. He had a major accomplishment in 1994 when his driver David Green won the Championship. Then Labonte won 5 Winston Cup races in 1999 which was the most he had over won in a single season. During this season he also suffered from a broken shoulder from an accident at Darlington Raceway, but this did not stop him from competing in the Cup event just 2 days later. Following all this, Bobby won his first Winston Cup Championship in 2000 finishing ahead of Dale Earnhardt by 265 points. The next 7 years Bobby had many wins one being the Busch Series in Talladega. However in 2008, he experienced a very unsuccessful season where he finished 21st in the Sprint Cup standings. This year 2010, he will race the #71 for TRG Motorsports. The first race of the season in the Daytona 500 he finished 21st after starting 42nd!!
